The aim of this Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing qualification is to train learners to a professionally competent level, enabling them to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes within a gym or health club environment as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor.
This course is split into 6 units of varying length – See the contents tab for a full breakdown of the course content. To help you focus on what’s essential to learn, important words and phrases have been highlighted in bold, so look out for those key bits of info, you will need them later on!
You will cover anatomy and physiology for exercise, health, safety and welfare and fitness, principles of exercise fitness and health, designing gym-based exercise programmes, instructing gym-based exercise and how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity. Completing this course will allow you to plan, deliver and evaluate sessions. In order to qualify, you will also undertake a practical assessment.
You can learn online anywhere and at a pace that suits you. We recommend you learn each unit in sequence and make notes. At the end of each section, we test your knowledge with a knowledge check quiz to make it stick. When you feel you are ready, tackle the assessments.
Completing the course requires planning and committing to studying for both theory and practical activities. However, the course duration depends on your circumstances. We recommend you aim to complete the unit assessments in twelve weeks.
